The project ‘Hidden Hellenism’ is a wonderful initiative by ‘Greek Youth Generator’ which seeks to highlight the Greek migrant story in suburbs of Melbourne that no longer have a strong Greek presence. They use multimedia including film, photos and murals.
Many Pontian families settled in Footscray and surrounding suburbs, including my own. In the 'Footscray' mural, the Pontian eagle and dancers of 'Pontiaki Estia' represent this presence and the club’s time in Footscray during the early years of its establishment. Miss M can be seen just above the R! 📸
